Triple-S (Sustainable Services at Scale) is a six-year, multi-country learning initiative to improve water supply to the rural poor. It is led by IRC International Water and Sanitation Centre.
The initiative is currently operating in Ghana and Uganda. Lessons learned from work in countries feeds up to the international level where Triple-S is promoting a re-appraisal of how development assistance to the rural water supply sector is designed and implemented.
Life-cycle costs approach
The life-cycle costs approach seeks to raise awareness of the importance of life-cycle costs in achieving adequate, equitable and sustainable WASH services, to make reliable cost information readily available and to mainstream the use of life-cycle costs in WASH governance processes at every level.
Since 2008, WASHCost has developed new methodologies to better understand and use the costs of providing water, sanitation and hygiene services to rural and peri-urban communities in Ghana, Burkina-Faso, Mozambique and India (Andhra Pradesh).
The IRC WASH Library acts as WASH Sector memory documenting more than 40 years of sector progress, analysis and tools. The library provides direct access to a still increasing number of WASH sector documents. The collection is built around current themes of interest for the WASH sector and also contains documents produced outside the formal channels of publication and distribution.
