Information

Population and Development Initiative – PDI was established in 2020 by agents of change with a common agenda of influencing active participation of communities in local and national development processes. PDI was registered in 2021 as a national NGO with registration number 00NGO/R/1566. We operate in Morogoro, Singida, Geita, and Kigoma regions in Tanzania.

PDI works in thematic areas of Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), Climate and Environmental Awareness, Health and Nutrition Awareness, Human Rights and Good Governance, and Youth and Women Economic Empowerment.

PDI is aware of various reports in Tanzania that indicate that most children, youth and women face various social and economic challenges which hinder them to reach their full potential. These challenges include unemployment, water poverty, energy poverty, gender-based violence, inadequate skills, climate change, malnutrition and limited health services although they are available resources and opportunities in the community.

PDI intends to provide skills, capacity, networks, information and resources needed to address these challenges to support development of children, youth, and children in Tanzania.
