Inclusive design is necessary to enable for greater ease of access and use of water sources by everyone, including women and men and those who are younger, older or disabled. The past few years have witnessed a rise in the number of organisations actively seeking to design more inclusive services, accompanied by a big increase in knowledge about inclusive technology and social approaches. However, this has not been accompanied by the widespread implementation of inclusive design on the ground. RWSN will continue to promote the importance of inclusion and share technical information to support mainstreaming of inclusive design in rural water supply.
